From a dusty letter…

Today we met one of the first tourists of the Garda Lake, catapulted over time and come to our days. So, we asked him to write a letter to his family. Famous for their stories, the grandtourist were coming from the north, and they were used to write letters where tell stories and conditions regarding the people were living the places they were visiting, embellishing them with their style of narration and descriptions. Here the result:

Today, October 25, 2013, the lake offers a temperature of 20 degrees and the sunny rays are the right invite you to a healthy walk, along the lakeside of Brenzone. The people are returned to work after the summer holidays and the peace and tranquility of nature, makes Brenzone so fantastic. Only think that in my homeland now winter is coming, make me more happy to be here.

The air is clean and the crystal lake water are the perfect habitat for the species of fish. Last night I could appreciate their incredible taste, with a glass of wine at my abode on the lake . The post house is in constructed in Venetian style with the most elegant charme. A piano was playing and from my room I could see the moon , falling asleep on the lake.

From here, I don’t want to go, Brenzone is magnificent, just missing you!

Dante`s Paradiso

A lake there lies, at foot of that proud Alp

That o’er the Tyrol locks Germania in,

Its name Benacus, from whose ample breast

A thousand springs, methinks, and more, between

Camonica and Garda, issuing forth,

Water the Apennine.

This words of the greatest Italian poet Dante in his Masterpiece, the epic poem called „Divine Commedy” are a tribute to our Lake. In the XX part of the Inferno Virgil, his master, explains the origin of the Lombard city Mantua and continues the description of the area of the lake from Peschiera to Verona, begun by the poet in chapter XII where carefully describes the landscapes surround the Adige, especially for the territories of Rovereto and Marco.
Like Dante, many artist have done a stop on Lake Garda during their Grandtour and the cultural effects they have done, let today a heritage of immense value. Each story helps us understand the beauty of these places and landscapes that inspire feelings close to art, music, poem.
Sometime watching at the sunsets in September we are led to ask ourselves if in our hotel, with its history and build in the Venetian style, some poets have composed verses or some painter has put his painting on canvas.

Brenzone, a land, a past

testimony of civilizations so different between them are telling us this thousand years history.

The oldest evidence of how already about 4,500 years ago man lived these lands, is based in the city hall of Brenzone. From that period to the present day different populations have alternated and the village has seen change its politics several times, never forgetting the nature and landscape that distinguishes today.

At first were the Germanic tribe called Brenni from which, one of the most popular hypothesis is that the name Brenzone derives, then the Roman Empire, the Venetian houses in middle age and finally by Venice and its Republic. Under the wings of the St. Mark’s lion the first families settled as the family named “Brenzone from the Lion” who left their mark in the municipal coat of arms.

The alternation of the different historical periods is still clear all over municipality. The stone of Castelletto, the Roman villa, the medieval’s churches, the ethnographic museum, or easily having a walk throughs the olive threes lead to the hamlet of Campo.
