Night excursion with a historic ship

In the Brenzone’s dialect she is called “Siora”, Lady in English, although for years has not been considered as it has to. She was waiting in the Toscolano’s harbor the restoration in order to get her back to the lake. Veronica is a ship built in 1926 in Peschiera del Garda and she used to lighten the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio up, during the races organized on the lake in that period.

Since 2001, its unique charm came back and now she is considered the most historic boat that takes advantage of breezes, to sail from north to south on this mirror of the sky. Now the boat is based in Malcesine’s harbor, but thanks to the Brenzone hotel association, our guests have the opportunity to spend a romantic evening aboard, imagining themself in the role of brave captains.

Every Wednesday, is organized a tour lasts 2 hours that will allow you to appreciate from an unusual point of view all the Brenzone’s  beauties. The ship will circumnavigate the island called “Trimelone” (three cantaloupesJ) and then continue among all the villages.

Sweet dreams...

Hotel Brenzone is pleased to announce a welcomed news. This year we had a resfurbishment of a large part of our rooms! During the winter there was a lot of work in order to renew our hotel, maintaining the style we would like to propose.

We worked remaining in loyal with the Hotel Brenzone style, which in the years has provided a warm family evirolment, with comfort in mind. If you are looking for lovely moments of relax with the pleasant company of a romantic sunset on the lake, the new rooms are thoughts for you. We always try to improve ourselves and we are satisfied when we aim to give customers the unique moments a vacation in Brenzone needs.

St. John the Baptist, Brenzone’s patron saint

Overlooking the lake, guarding the hamlet of Magugnano stay a fourteenth-century church erected in honor of “San Giovanni Battista”, the patron saint of the village. Partially built with white marble and, according to the original project, not yet completed, with a bell tower that rises and with its tolling, is giving every day the right rhythm in the village of Brenzone.

The Baptist is the greatest of the prophets (Luke’s Gospel 3,1-2) and in the church is based a statue representing the Saint, similar to the description that the evangelist Mark did in another chapter of the Good Book (Mark 1:6). The statue dates back to the '500 and is a work of fine carving representing the Baptist in the middle of the Saints Peter and Paul.

The influence of this figure in Christian history can be seen as, among years, many churches are dedicated to the saint, such the magnificent St. John's Co-Cathedral in La Valletta Malta, where Caravaggio decide to let the blood signed painting dedicated to the beheading of St. John. Other famous paintings are those of Leonardo in the Museum of Louvre in Paris, which immortalize the cousin of Jesus in the controversial painting the "Virgin of the Rocks" and in the famous portrait.

In June (the 24th) Brenzone celebrate the birth of the patron who, together with St. Rocco and St. Sebastian, have become religious icons of the Christian community in the village. A Dog's Life!

It's been almost a century since Charlie Chaplin titled one of his best movies as we do with this post. Much has changed since then, although this metaphor still refer to a life lived under determinate conditions, where every day is lived in uncertainty.

In the end of the movie, is showed as, when the social conditions change, between men and animal remains only the serenity of a life shared in a trustable friendship. Today, although there are still summer’s abandonment, people appreciate the quality of these friends choosing to live a piece of their lives together.

Is in our philosophy we think that our little friends are in need to have a break from the routine and enjoy the holidays in relax with their “owner”.
It is as we also believe that faithful they need to pull the plug from the routine and enjoy the holidays in relaxation. At Hotel Brenzone we welcome and pamper your dogs and in our village they can take advantage of miles and miles of beach for having long walks in the early morning or at sunset. For the rest of the day the lake will provide the proper freshness, otherwise they can sunbathe, as true VID (Very Important Dog). Woof Woof.

Verona, the city of love

William Shakespeare describes one of the most intense love story in Verona even if the England’s national poet was too young for had a city tour in one of the most beautiful example of the Roman urban development.

Verona is rich of Roman history, and the ruins of the greatest civilization ever existed, now create an open-air museum. Are still visible gorgeous villas, city walls, theaters and churches, but especially here: the Arena!

The amphitheater today is used for the opera season, which this year celebrates its centenary. The most famous opera is the “Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi, who this year would have celebrate his 200 birthday.

But If relax is the goal of your trip, have a walk through places full of history and trendy bars and restaurant, where you can have a taste of the Venetian cuisine, and shopping, the downtown streets are the right choice. Via Mazzini and Via Cappello, with Juliet’s balcony, are great places to find the excellence of Made in Italy.

In the relax of the renewed rooms of the hotel, can happen to let you go too much and did not notice the passing of time and the ritual of lunch or dinner. Don’t be worried because the arrival of the steamboat will declare the perfect time to get ready to enjoy a hearty lunch or a great dinner at our restaurant "Al vapor."

We have tried, over the years, to offer a menu that reflects our tastes typical from the lake, and let  our guests appreciate these unique flavors of Mediterranean and traditional cuisine of Lake Garda.

The freshness of the fish is the true surplus, considering that most of the time the fish in less than 4 hours from the lake hop into the pan. Therefore before make your choice, let us suggest you the best meal of the evening and the perfect combination with the best wine that match with the ordered dish.
